We are, and always have been, a social and environmentally conscious organization that gives back to the North, because that’s the Northern Way. We believe that Northern can make a real difference in the North, and are continually reviewing our processes and aligning our activities with member and employee satisfaction, as well as assessing our involvement within the communities we serve.
Students 25 or under enrolling in academic, vocation, or technical post-secondary programs who demonstrate great engagement in their communities can apply for this bursary. OCUF will award $1,000 to $3,000
Northern Credit Union is proud to sponsor youth to participate in the Ontario Co-operative Young Leaders program.
The series of week-long CYL camps are for youth aged 13-18, designed to equip them with self-confidence and leadership skills through co-operative camp activities and inspirational guest speakers. Participants will build meaningful relationships, and develop the skills needed to be positive change-makers in their communities around Ontario.
Older than 18? No problem! CYL is also looking for volunteer facilitators to mentor the next generation of co-operative leaders.
If you’re interested in evolving your leadership skills in a judgement-free, safe, and FUN environment, CYL is perfect for you.

Our Northern Credit Union Advisory Committee acts as the flag-bearers of our cause – championing local initiatives, helping Northerners in their communities, and working hard to raise awareness of our efforts to give back.
The Northern Advisory Committee is a group of passionate volunteers from across our footprint, who come together to plan and execute social giving initiatives that make big impacts to our communities.
Advisors suggest ideas to get involved in the community, like sponsorships, fundraisers, or events. As a team, we discuss ways to plan and execute the initiative that will make a big impact to the community, as well as expand it into other communities if applicable.
If you are interested in being a part of the Advisory Committee, please reach out to communities@northerncu.com. We meet regularly to stay up-to-date on each other’s ongoing initiatives, and to brainstorm ways to make lasting impacts on our communities.
