Northern Credit Union branches across our footprint identified the immediate challenges and hardships that our communities face, and stepped up to make a difference this holiday season.
Northern joined the Giving Tuesday movement by working diligently to donate money, food, winter clothing, essential personal products, and gifts to charities and people in need.
The fight for change is an ongoing effort across Ontario, and Northern Credit Union is committed to leaving our communities better than we found them. Together we can make a difference.
We are, and always have been, a social and environmentally conscious organization that gives back to the North, because that’s the Northern Way. We believe that Northern can make a real difference in the North, and are continually reviewing our processes and aligning our activities with member and employee satisfaction, as well as assessing our involvement within the communities we serve.
Northern Credit Union has proudly partnered with Curl Sudbury to secure the future of curling in Greater Sudbury. This three-year partnership will support facility enhancements and equipment upgrades to the six-sheet curling ice pad, community event space, and lounge!
The Northern Credit Union Community Centre at 300 Wessex Street in Sudbury will continue to host the recreational and competitive curling leagues that Curl Sudbury users enjoy every winter, and will transform into the pickle ball and roller derby arena that you love in the summer.
As part of our commitment to building strong communities, the Northern Credit Union Community Centre will be an all-inclusive space that encourages sportsmanship, inclusivity, and diversity.
The Northern Community Centre at 556 Goulais Ave in Sault Ste. Marie is a state-of-the-art indoor turf facility, and is home to the 55+ Active Living Centre.
This partnership, which has been ongoing since 2013, supports the Twin Pad Expansion Project in the new construction of a fitness center and two new ice rinks, as well as facility enhancements.
Northern Credit Union is thrilled to continue this partnership as part of our promise to provide an all-embracing space for our community to enjoy.
Students 25 or under enrolling in academic, vocation, or technical post-secondary programs who demonstrate great engagement in their communities can apply for this bursary. OCUF will award $1,000 to $3,000
Northern Credit Union is proud to sponsor youth to participate in the Ontario Co-operative Young Leaders program.
The series of week-long CYL camps are for youth aged 13-18, designed to equip them with self-confidence and leadership skills through co-operative camp activities and inspirational guest speakers. Participants will build meaningful relationships, and develop the skills needed to be positive change-makers in their communities around Ontario.
Older than 18? No problem! CYL is also looking for volunteer facilitators to mentor the next generation of co-operative leaders.
If you’re interested in evolving your leadership skills in a judgement-free, safe, and FUN environment, CYL is perfect for you.

Our Northern Credit Union Advisory Committee acts as the flag-bearers of our cause – championing local initiatives, helping Northerners in their communities, and working hard to raise awareness of our efforts to give back.
The Northern Advisory Committee is a group of passionate volunteers from across our footprint, who come together to plan and execute social giving initiatives that make big impacts to our communities.
Advisors suggest ideas to get involved in the community, like sponsorships, fundraisers, or events. As a team, we discuss ways to plan and execute the initiative that will make a big impact to the community, as well as expand it into other communities if applicable.
If you are interested in being a part of the Advisory Committee, please reach out to email@example.com. We meet regularly to stay up-to-date on each other’s ongoing initiatives, and to brainstorm ways to make lasting impacts on our communities.
