Northern Credit to be Honoured with Heart and Stroke Foundation’s President’s Award

(SAULT STE. MARIE – March 23, 2011) –Northern Credit Union is honoured to be this year’s recipient of the President’s Award presented by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Sault Ste. Marie Chapter. The awards presentation will take place this Friday, March 25 during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at the Verdi Hall in Sault Ste. Marie.
The President’s Award recognizes corporate support through volunteer hours, participation in fundraising and health promotion activities and corporate donations. Each dollar redeemed at a Northern Credit Union branch was donated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. In addition, Northern’s staff participated in the Annual Big Bike for Heart and Stroke. A total of $10,000 was donated to the Foundation.
“It is a privilege to receive this award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario,” says Al Suraci, CEO for Northern Credit Union. “Our members and staff are pleased to provide volunteer support to the Foundation, fulfilling a shared vision of making a difference in our communities.”
Heart and Stroke Foundation officials say the funds raised provide support in various areas including life-saving research and health promotion, health education for youth, and local initiatives such as free blood pressure clinics.
