CONSTRUCTION MORTGAGE CATEGORIES
Insured Construction Mortgages - Financing up to 95% of the appraised value of the home, both CMHC and Genworth Financial offer Contractor and Self-Built Construction Programs. See your Northern branch for terms, conditions and fee structure.
Contractor-Built Home Mortgages - This is the most preferable option, as it involves one contractor managing the entire build.
Self-Built Home Mortgages - This type of Construction Mortgage is the most challenging, because it requires you to prove that you have experience managing a successful build. If approved, you would be responsible for hiring sub-contractors and submitting all project invoices to the lender.
